My cleaned up garden

It has been a few weeks since I posted about my mess of a garden and I am pleased to say it has been cleaned up quite a lot since then (credit goes mostly to the man) and you can actually see the shed now!

I notice whenever I cut back the grass it turns from a lush green to a patchy brown and I would love to know how to keep it fresh looking?

I do love a before and after picture so here a few. I have not yet cut back the bushes as much as I would like, mostly because of the weather changing but hopefully it will be sunny over the half term and I can carry on with it then.

The scaffolding is already half taken down so hopefully it will all be removed soon as apparently my fence (which has fallen down even more) cannot be repaired while the scaffolding is still up!

The best thing is seeing a bit of colour finally appearing in the garden...

I think I am going to set myself  a project for the summer which is to try and make this shed look pretty...I know it's going to be a hard task!!

  3. I hope you manage to find out what is happening with your grass. I love the idea of beauitfying a shed - a good excuse to spend some time on Pinterest me thinks ;)

  4. I'm not a grassy expert but can you adjust the blade settings on your lawnmower at all? Ours used to do that until Papasaurus pointed out that I was cutting the grass too short (I know, how can you cut it too short??!) Because it was too short the sun would then scorch it really easily. I hope you get to the bottom of it.
I'm with Gemma, I'd be on Pinterest faster than you can say 'paint me a shed' to seek out inspiration!

Thanks for joining in again! x

    1. I thought it might need some more lawn seed or lawn feed but it may be to do with the lawnmower, thanks for the advice... I will investigate! x

  5. We've been on a garden tidy up mission for the last few months as well - it is very satisfying! I agree with Annie on the lawn. Also cut little and often. My husband bought an old-fashioned push along mower a good few years ago and it is much better for treating the grass with care. The only reason we have patches on ours at the moment is because he used a flymo for the first cut and that took too much off and made it yellow. Aftercut is also good for helping to green things up. Can't wait to see what you do with the shed!

    1. I didn't think about taking too much off, that may be the problem as when it grows back it's always much greener. Thanks for the advice x

  6. What a transformation! It looks amazing
To keep the grass looking green it is blade height of your mower and you need to cut it often, you cant let it get long at all. This time of year it needs to be cut every week to make it lush and green all the time. Good luck!

    1. My problem is I leave it until it looks like a jungle before cutting it, will now be out there every weekend keeping it trim ;)

  8. You're making great progress! Is the grass to do with the lawn mower cutting it too short? Can you adjust it? It's hard to make sheds pretty - I'd go for painting it and then grow climbers up it :)

    1. I had no idea you could adjust the blades but will look into it, I'm thinking of painting the shed a light colour but not sure if it will just stand out too much! x

  9. Its looks lighter! I agree with Jocelyn. The easiest way to update anything is to paint it. Youll be amaze of the difference a few coats will do to your shed =) #HDYGG

  10. Good luck with your shed project - could you point a mural on it? With your grass have you tried cutting it more often so it isn't so long when you cut it?

  11. The garden looks great, it's amazing what a bit of a chop and a mow of the lawn can do. And you'll be so surprised by how easily you can transform the shed with a lick of paint. Honestly I painted mine in october and it made such an immediate difference.
